I like doing experiments with my DSLR camera. That is the main reason I opted to go DSLR instead of point-and-shoot because I know there is a whole different world to taking pictures with a DSLR.
Curious to know how this shot was done?
If you are a Superman fan, you would notice that the text somehow resembles the opening credits of the movie. How was it done? It’s actually quite simple.
- These tips are on the assumption that you know basic DSLR photography. If you need more help, you may use the contact form to reach me.
- Set the shutter slow enough (but do not set it long enough that the focused object would be overexposed) that you would be able to rotate the zoom ring of the lens in order to achieve the “zooming in” effect.
- After you press the shutter, slowly rotate the zoom ring of the lens, depending on the effect you want to achieve, I chose to zoom it quite fast and let it rest at maximum focal length so that the text appears sharp and clear.
The reverse effect (zooming out) shown below does not look as good as when you zoom in on the subject, but depending on what you are taking a photo of, zooming out might work better. Experimentation is the key.
