Reports have been circulating that the cost of producing/manufacturing a Sony PlayStation 3 has gone down by as much as 70%, which brings the cost of production to $240.
The original manufacturing cost of the PlayStation 3 is believed to be around $800. While this may look nice to the general public, giving thoughts of a possible price drop in the near future, I don’t think Sony’s gonna please everyone just yet.
Remember that they’ve been selling the consoles at a loss for a while now. It may also take them a while to get them back on their feet, profit-wise. Hopefully, everyone’s gonna get that $100 price drop soon.
