I am pretty sure not many people have heard about a company named Avantgarde Acoustic. Apparently they are a high-end speaker manufacturer specializing in horns (they are those huge megaphone-resembling things). I’ve had the opportunity to hear a pair of Duo‘s and the sound quality was simply astounding. A classical track was being played and the piano notes sounded even more crisp than when you actually press something on the piano yourself! It was like the instruments were actually being played in the room and not by speakers. It was being powered by two monoblock tube amplifiers, one for each speaker.

Shown above is a picture of what the Avantgarde Acoustic Duo looks like. Yes, they definitely look horrible BUT, they sound amazing! I have no idea who purchases speaker products these expensive though. I overheard that these babies cost around $13,000 per pair! And I used to think Bowers and Wilkins (B&W) speakers were expensive. Ha! Away with that thought.
