The Palm Pre has recently been announced for release on June 6, 2009. However, quite a handful of people are not enthusiastic about the $100 mail-in rebate. One more thing to worry about is the deadline of the mail-in rebate.
According to PreThinking, Sprint’s fine print indicates that the rebate ends on July 11, 2009. Maybe Sprint has something up their sleeve or it’s just possible that they are limiting the number of units that will come out initially. Bad move or good marketing tactic? We’ll see.
Many people don’t like to be bothered with filling up rebate forms and waiting 2 to 3 months for the rebate checks to show up in their mailbox. Hence, Best Buy has decided that it will offer an instant rebate on the Palm Pre after ringing it up on the cash register.
I have encountered very minor problems with rebates while I was living in the United States, but solutions were pretty easy. When checking for a rebate, you should take note of the company which is actually offering the rebate and look it up on the web.
But seriously, if you wanna get a Palm Pre and have a Best Buy location near you… Save yourself the hassle of filling out a rebate form, cutting the UPC code and photocopying the receipt. Just get it from Best Buy instead of other locations (you’ll probably have to get there early on release day though).
