The Samsung Pixon12 (M8910) is probably a direct competitor to the soon to be released Idou Satio. It’s equipped with a 3.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen with WVGA resolution. Display contrast is believed to be 10,000:1. That’s even better than some HDTVs!
Of course, it has everything else your beefed-up smartphone has to offer. HSDPA, Bluetooth connectivity, robust multimedia playback, WiFi and GPS receiver.
Another main highlight of the Samsung Pixon12 would be its 12 megapixel camera with both a xenon flash and LED flash. Just in case you’re wondering why it’s the world’s first 12 megapixel camera phone, it’s because it’ll be the first one actually available for purchase because the Sony Ericsson Idou Satio is still months away.
Will the 12 megapixel camera convince you to leave your digital camera in the house? It depends. I honestly cannot stomach taking photos with a mobile phone unless it’s something I quickly need to show somebody when I get home.
The Samsung Pixon12 is scheduled for release in Europe at the end of June 2009. It will start appearing everywhere else in August 2009. Pricing has not been revealed yet.
