AT&T has confirmed that starting on March 26, 2009, they will be offering iPhone 3G to existing AT&T subscribers without the two-year contract. Of course there’s a catch, these subscribers will have to pay an additional $400 more ($599 for the 8GB model and $699 for the 16GB model). There are not many US carriers to use with the iPhone 3G because it uses GSM, not CDMA. AT&T and T-Mobile are the only GSM carriers in the US. It has also been reported that the 3G functionality of the iPhone only works with AT&T.
