Even though Blu-ray won the war against HD DVD, they’re still not on a clear path to victory. The high-definition format seems to be raging a new war, this time against two opponents, good old standard definition DVD and digital downloads.
Although Blu-ray media and players have come down in price, many consumers are still not convinced that it is the go-to next generation format because sales reports in December indicated the DVD players outnumbered Blu-ray players ten-to-one.
