I’m pretty sure you’re wondering what the picture above is. It sort of looks like a PC casing and at the same time it looks like it was pulled out of some sort of alien dimension.
It is indeed a PC case! This out-of-this-world looking product was designed by DesignWorks USA, a BMW-owned design development firm. The “Level 10″ has a distinct look of not having the normal rectangular form-factor of PC casings. It has individual sections for each component.
My take on the parts of the design would be:
- It can accomodate up to six hard disk drives. (Front bottom)
- It can accomodate two or three optical drivers. (Front top)
- There might be cooling issues unless there is some special air circulation module integrated by BMW on each enclosed component.
- Wiring will surely look like a mess if there are no compartments to hide the wires into because the whole body of the PC casing is exposed.
No information yet on whether the product will actually be sold or if it’s gonna be like one of those concept car things that never ever get released to the public. No word on price either but since it’s BMW made, it would be safe to assume it would cost a lot.
