Canon recently announced the a followup to their entry-level DSLR line-up, the Canon Rebel T1i or 500D. This time around they’re introducing a revision to their Speedlite 220EX. The Speedlite 270EX and the 220EX are the smallest flash units in Canon’s Speedlite line-up.
Notable features include the following: maximum guide number of 27 m, fast and silent recycle times (approximately 4 secs), manual flash output (setting controlled via camera menus), Speedlite controllable with compatible camera’s menu, zoom head and bounce flash head.
This flash will definitely come in handy for those who want a small form factor to complement their huge SLRs or for those who simply want to use add-on flashes for their Canon PowerShot S series and G series digital cameras. Using the 430EX and 580EX for the PowerShot series would just look downright funny, don’t you think? The flash unit would be bigger than the actual PowerShot camera itself!
