Square Enix has just been milking people through the Final Fantasy VII franchise. A couple of months ago, they released limited edition PlayStation 3 consoles in Japan which included a reworked and extended version of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The package also included a demo of FFXIII.
The Blu-ray version of the movie is looking at a Japanese release date of April 2009 (it was only previously available with the limited edition PlayStation 3 console) while the US release is said to be sometime in June 2009. It will feature an additional 30 minutes of footage. The added scenes will purportedly spice up the action scenes and fight scenes. I played the game on the PlayStation before and I was not impressed with the storyline of the CG film but the action scenes were just eyecandy!
Amazon already has a price for the Blu-ray, it will be going for $26.99. Kinda weird that the format indicates VHS instead of Blu-ray though. Apparently, release date is set for June 2, 2009.
