Mike Hickey, video-game analyst for Janco Partners, stated that Sony needs to cut $100 USD from the price of the PS3 in order to keep the developers and publishers from moving away. He also has given thoughts that the removal of the Blu-ray component of the PS3 would allow Sony to reduce costs. Apparently I think Mike Hickey is not knowledgeable enough about the PS3 because the PS3 uses Blu-ray games.
How in the world is Sony going to be able to do away with the Blu-ray component?! Should they migrate back to DVD (which of course is not an option, given the computing and processing power of the PS3) or conjure up another Sony-proprietary media? Come on, be realistic! If Mike Hickey hasn’t also noticed, a large chunk of people who bought the PS3 was for its capability to be a gaming console AND a Blu-ray player.
