Nokia Point & Find

Holy artificial intelligence Batman Nokia!

According to the video demonstration of Nokia’s Point & Find, you can virtually point at anything (movie posters in this case) with the camera of a supported Nokia phone and it will give you most (if not all) the information you need for that particular object/thing/place/whatever it is. An alternative to pointing your camera at the object would be good ol’ text entry on your Nokia mobile phone.

Apparently, Nokia’s Point & Find also appears to be able to read barcodes. Just point the camera on the barcode and it will find all detailed information about that particular product.

Funny how the Nokia Betalabs Blog says that information is accessed in real-time. I wonder what connection it uses to achieve that. You can go to this page if you want to know more about Nokia’s Point & Find. If you’re nice enough and want to give Nokia some feedback regarding your experience (and possibly frustrations) regarding the service/software, then go here.

If you live in the USA and UK, you can try it out. I believe can download directly if you pretend are from the US, the UK option will send a link to your mobile phone where you can download the software. Symbian Series 60 3rd Edition devices are what appears to be supported.

See the video below to see how it actually works.
