Microsoft is updating its Surface device, but it’s not going to be available for another couple of years, 2 to 3 years to be exact. It is called “Second Light,” this name might have been gotten from the fact that the 2nd iteration of the Microsoft Surface will utilize two projector units instead of one. The second projector unit allows it to project a layer on top of the screen itself. It will also feature infrared sensors which will allow interaction without physically touching the unit itself.
Microsoft’s Surface is sort of like the Minority Report computers, to a much less futuristic extent. The Minority Report screens were semi-transparent and were manipulated by Tom Cruise using sensor-fitted gloves. But the concept remains pretty much the same, you are able to move digital content around with the use of your hand.

You can go to Microsoft’s Surface website for more information regarding the technology (the first generation) along with some demonstration videos of it in action.
The Microsoft Surface is currently only available for commercial purposes. Who knows when this type of thing will be available in the comfort of our very own homes? Only time will tell.
The Surface unit is available for $15,000. For that price you get a developer unit, five seats and support.
