One Blu-ray boxed set to rule them all! Well, not quite. New Line will be releasing the theatrical editions of the Lord of the Rings (LOTR) trilogy first.

I’ve seen the extended versions of the first two movies and they’re much better than the theatrical versions since they add a bit more depth into the LOTR universe.

Although no release date is indicated on Amazon, I believe the boxed set will be available before the year ends. So brace your wallets when it coughs up $69.99 for The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Theatrical Editions) [Blu-ray].

I am pretty confident that the LOTR universe would look great in high definition. Just imagine, the detailed environments and castles will look even better! On the other hand, the Orcs would look more scary though!
