I have been to the US and during the time I was there (for more than a year), I never saw a Nintendo Wii console physically stocked inside a store. I would always see its $249.99 price label along with an empty shelf.
You would either have to watch out for real-time online stock availability (refresh, refresh, refresh) or look into deal sites which report real-time availability across the world wide web. Alternately you can also line-up at Best Buy or Target if they announce on their weekly ad that they will have incoming stocks on a particular Sunday or buy one off eBay for a little bit more than retail price.
GameStop SVP of Merchandising, Bob McKenzie, has recently stated that for the first time in three years, they actually have a couple of weeks supply of Nintendo Wii’s. Definitely a good thing for those of you still wanting to get your hands on one.
He has also revealed surprise on the Wii Fit’s popularity, he never thought that it would catch on with Wii owners.
