Twitter has confirmed that it will be offering paid pro accounts in the future. The social messaging utility has definitely risen in popularity, not just to average everyday people, but to celebrities and major companies as well.

These paid pro accounts are aimed at companies who want to expand their influence in the Twitter universe. No exact list of features or additional tools have been mentioned but it seems likely that account authentication will be a major feature because there are lots of fake accounts lying around on Twitter.
