Cignal Digital TV is a new satellite TV broadcast provider in the Philippines. Rate is P390/month (roughly $8.25 USD) and installation fee along with equipment (set top box with remote, Cignal card, satellite dish and wiring) is P5,500 (roughly $115 USD). For that monthly rate, you get around 20 channels.
Every TV requires its own set top box. So, if you have five TV’s, you need five set top boxes. Only one satellite dish is required to connect to multiple set top boxes. No mention on the limit of boxes that can be connected to a single dish.
Cignal Digital TV is initially going to offer standard definition TV broadcasts only. HD broadcasts will start becoming available on June 2009.
While I am not entirely convinced that they will truly be offering HD broadcasts in the Philippines (HD is such a misconstrued term all over the world)… I am keeping my hopes up since anything is possible, right?
More details regarding the service can be found here. Cignal Digital TV is said to be owned by Mediascape Inc., but their site seems to be down as of the moment.
