Blu-ray seems to be hitting the right notes lately as player sales increase by 72% compared to last year’s 1st quarter. Blu-ray player sales increase have been attributed to HDTV owners looking for more high definition content and the lowered cost of Blu-ray players.

CBHD stands for China Blue High-Definition.
The format will use the AVS audio and video codec, which is owned by the Chinese government. So, it is highly unlikely that we will see these players and discs anywhere else, unless of course, they are smuggled out from China in some way.

I am just surprised at some claims people make over very little statistical data. I’m not saying that having Blu-ray is not a nice thing. Sure, it has better picture (definitely noticeable to the vast majority) and better audio (noticeable depending on your hearing skills), but do people really care?
