According to iSuppli, a research firm based in El Segundo, California, the parts used in the Amazon’s Kindle 2 amounts only to $185.49.
The 2nd generation Kindle improves the following over the 1st generation: longer battery life, improved display, slim profile and text-to-speech capability. It only weighs 10.2 ounces and has a 6-inch 600 x 800 resolution electronic paper display.
Amazon’s newly released Kindle 2 eBook reading device has been under fire during the past few days. The Authors Guild voiced out their complaints that the device could pose a threat to the audiobook market because of its text-to-speech feature to read books to you out loud.
Amazon has raised its white flag and will leave the decisions entirely to the publishers, as to whether or not they want to include text-to-speech with their title offerings.
Tomorrow is the release date of Amazon’s Kindle 2: Wireless Reading Device, but somehow Amazon’s product page shows that it is IN STOCK already.
