After just four and a half months, the Nintendo DSi line-up is getting rejuvenated with additional colors of Pink and White. April 5th launch colors available were Matte Blue and Matte Black. The Pink one appears to be the same as the one released in Japan.

As always, Japan gets these nice colored and unique Nintendo gaming consoles first. Remember those Pink, Lime Green and Metallic Blue DSi’s? Introducing new colors seems to be a good marketing tactic for both Nokia and Nintendo.

Nintendo sells 435,000 DSi’s during the first week

Super Mario Victory StanceThe Nintendo DSi has only been out for 15 days and it has already reportedly sold 435,000 units during the first week alone!

300,000 units of the Nintendo DSi were sold during the first full weekend and 135,000 more units rushed out the door during the rest of the week.

Although Wii sales have dropped compared to last year, Nintendo is still king of gaming console sales figures in the US, accounting for approximately 60% of the market.

Nintendo DSi in Japan getting three new colors (Pink, Lime Green, Metallic Blue)

As many of you very well know, the Nintendo DSi is slated for a US release on April 5, 2009. Meanwhile the Japanese will be getting three additional colors starting March 20th, Pink, Lime Green and Metallic Blue. The Nintendo DSi is priced in Japan at ¥18,900 (approximately $195 USD). It was released on November 1, 2008 in Japan, with initial color availability being black and white. The US version, to be available in Matte Black, Matte Blue, will be priced at $170.

Notable changes of the DSi from the DS Lite are the following:

  • Two 0.3 megapixel cameras
  • Slightly larger screen size
  • SD card slot
  • Improved speakers
  • No more Game Boy Advance cartridge slot
