
Mike Hickey, video-game analyst for Janco Partners, stated that Sony needs to cut $100 USD from the price of the PS3 in order to keep the developers and publishers from moving away. He also has given thoughts that the removal of the Blu-ray component of the PS3 would allow Sony to reduce costs. Apparently I think Mike Hickey is not knowledgeable enough about the PS3 because the PS3 uses Blu-ray games.

Firmware update 2.60 of the Sony Playstation 3 has been released and adds more features such as:
- All-new photo gallery
- DivX 3.11 support
- Safe mode
- Blu-ray disc theme support
- In-game access and deletion of hard disk data
- 3D secure support
- Improved system stability
- Non-PSN users now be able to access and browse the Playstation Store
No exact details yet on how these features would really enhance you PS3 experience, the download is also a hefty 140MB.
